Saints Row 2 Gotr
After years of being a crashy pain in the arse, Saints Row 2 is finally getting. Never crashed, I think, but I used the Gentlemen of the Row mod. The Gentlemen of the Row mod for Saints Row 2 PC is a massive integrated collection of mods, tweaks, and fixes that greatly enhances the game while still staying true to the spirit of the original. The mod has been carefully balanced to be used by either.
Saints Row 2 is an open world action-adventure game developed by Volition and originally published by THQ for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in October 2008.
In October 2008, THQ and Volition released Saints Row 2 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to positive reviews and commercial success, with it being widely regarded as the best game in the entire Saints Row series. Three months later, a PC port developed by The CD Projekt RED localisation team (informally known as 'CD Project Black' to different them from the main development team) was released to the public, with terrible results.

Why The PC Version Sucks
- The keys used to navigate menus don't make any sense. You must hit the [ and ] keys in order to change pages, which simulate the bumpers on an Xbox 360 controller.
- Some of the menus simply don't work at all.
- Very bizarrely, running the game on a computer with a more powerful CPU than the one in the Xbox 360 (running at 3.2 Ghz) will make it run worse than expected - and the more powerful it is than the Xbox 360, the worse the game will run. You heard that right: The better your computer hardware is, the worse the game's performance will be.
- Movement and voice clips speed up at random.
- Keys don't always respond with the actions they are mapped to, making some sections impossible to complete.
- The game constantly crashes.
- This game had low quality soundbanks (22,5 khz) compared to the Xbox 360 version, where it ran at 32 - 48 khz stereo.
- The game will sometimes flicker and screen-tear when you connect your PC to a TV through an HDMI cable.
- The GOG version of the game is locked to the wrong frame rate, and with the Gentlemen of the Row mod, it gets worse.
- Datamining by modders revealed portions of the console-only DLC existed in-game, which provides the post-story bridge to Saints Row The Third, but there is not enough present to reconstruct it for PC and modders have been forbidden by the publishers to attempt to port the console assets, as the provisions of the port explicitly forbid doing so.
Redeeming Qualities
- Just like manyothergames, the original console versions are great.
- Fortunately, there's modifications such as Gentlemen of the Row, High Quality Radio (ported from the Xbox 360 version) and Saints Row 2 Powertools, which fixes most of the problems that the port suffers from. They may not be perfect, but at least they make this disaster of a port more playable and enjoyable.
- There's also a ton of graphical improvement mods (like FusionH2o's Saints Row 1 Texture Pack, which replaces many of the game's textures with those from Saints Row, giving Stilwater a more vibrant and livelier feel).
- On October 2019, Volition announced that they found the source code for this port and will be releasing a patch for it in the near future. Changes include replacing GameSpy with Steam (allowing for Workshop mods), various bug fixes, and also including the DLC content for free.
